Florida Birding and Nature festival 2023

Fort de Soto fieldtrip

On the stage of the recent Florida Birding and Nature Festival in Apollo Beach, Florida, I firsthand experienced the unique connection between nature enthusiasts and the passion for birds. My involvement, through a dedicated stand for Colombia, allowed me to share the wonders of my country, which proudly holds the title of having the greatest diversity of birds in the world.

Strategically located right next to the registration stand, my space became a tropical portal to the diverse ecosystems I offer as a specialized bird tour guide. Hundreds of visitors approached with palpable interest, eager to discover the winged jewels of Colombia and immerse themselves in its unique landscapes.

The event itself was an enriching experience. The organizers, with admirable dedication, created an atmosphere where passion for ornithology and conservation seamlessly merged. The speakers, with an impressive trajectory, shared their profound knowledge, providing a richer and fuller view of the fascinating world of birds.

I invite you to explore the biographies and contributions of these outstanding speakers on the festival's website: [Florida Birding and Nature Festival](https://www.floridabirdingandnaturefestival.org/index.html).

My days at the event were filled with passionate dialogues, where each question became an opportunity to tell stories about the majestic Andes, the lush tropical forests, the wax palm forests, and the incredible diversity of birds that inhabit these environments. The audience, representing at least 6 countries, showed genuine interest in learning about Colombian avifauna, creating a cultural bridge between continents through the universal language of birds.

With this brief article, I express my gratitude to the organizers who made this memorable encounter possible. I want to highlight how participating in events of this nature not only strengthens bonds within the birding community but also opens fascinating perspectives on birdwatching tourism. Direct interaction with those who share this passion is an invaluable opportunity to learn, teach, and collaborate in the conservation of our natural heritage.

As the festival came to a close, the certainty remained that these encounters are more than mere events; they are celebrations of diversity, education, and admiration for birds. With each wing crossing the sky, a world of possibilities and discoveries unfolds, reminding us of the importance of preserving and sharing the amazing realm of birds. Until the next flight of knowledge and admiration, heartfelt thanks to all who made this unique experience possible.
